Hello! I’m Barbara, a Sawbridgeworth based yoga teacher who teaches gentle yoga to beginners, active agers and mindful movers. I also teach chair yoga to seniors and anyone managing pain or weakness.

In yoga we have a holistic approach to our health and wellbeing, and with regular practice we can maintain and improve our quality of life. Yoga helps you to feel good, move well, keep fit and healthy, and find a sense of calm.

Yoga is for everyone and I help men and women, seasoned yogis and those new to yoga, to an awareness of their own range of movement and help them to find their own expression of a pose. I teach techniques to improve breathing and how to focus the mind to reduce stress. I lead my students to relaxation to soothe the body and mind. We work mindfully to notice sensations in our bodies and to keep the mind focussed on the moment.

My yoga classes are friendly and welcoming. Everybody is unique.

I am Yorkshire born and bred and my heart will always be in the vibrant landscapes, rich heritage and wildlife of the North Yorkshire moors and dales. Life brought me South and I have been happily settled on the Herts / Essex border for the last 30 years. I’m a keen golfer (my other passion) and love travelling.

I have been practicing yoga for most of my adult life and I trained with the British Wheel of Yoga, the National Governing Body of Yoga, completing the 300hr Certificate course. I have taken further training in Progressive Chair Yoga with Sundari Lucey of the Soma Yoga Institute, Yin yoga with Norman Blair, and Yoga for Sports with the Institute of Yoga Sports Science.

My influences are many, including my teachers, Scaravelli, and more recently Peter Blackaby’s functional approach to movement to support health in later life. Sundari Lucey also speaks to me when she encourages authenticity in teaching and practice as we age.

I love to share my knowledge and love of yoga and help people to feel better with yoga.
